Samantha at Avalanche Creek

About Samantha

Samantha is studying ecosystem ecology and aquatic biogeochemistry under the mentorship of Dr. H. Maurice Valett.  Her research asks how floodplain succession and landscape position influence the structure and function of groundwater-fed springbrooks on the Nyack Floodplain in northwestern Montana.  Before coming to FLBS to pursue a M.S., Samantha spent time as a research technician studying avian ecology in southern Appalachia and the tall-grass prairie of the Midwest.  When she’s not wading through a stream or sitting behind a desk, Samantha is usually hiking, snowboarding, swimming in the lake, or playing with her dog.
