Eric began working for the Flathead Lake Biological
Station in 1999 as the Maintenance Worker. He was promoted in 2001
to Resident Caretaker. As his title suggests, Eric and his family
are full-time residents at the Station. Eric's responsibilities
range from maintaining and improving the buildings, grounds, vehicles,
boats and mechanical equipment to the operation of the facility's
water system and Wastewater Treatment Plant. He works to keep the
Station's forest as close to its natural state as possible by thinning
trees and brush and controlling nonendemic plant and animal species.
Eric also provides FLBS and the surrounding community with
fire protection as a volunteer fireman. In addition, he works with
staff, faculty, and students to provide logistical and technical
support for research projects. Personal interests include hunting,
hiking, backpacking, whitewater canoeing, telemark and cross-country
skiing, rock climbing, and his young son.
